Playback Theatre transforms personal stories told by audience members into theatre pieces using movement, ritual, music, and spoken improvisation.

WISCONSIN!
Playback Theatre is improvisational theatre. A troupe of actors transform personal stories told by audience members into theater pieces. A story can be anything: a childhood memory, a current life dilemma, an anecdote from work or travel, or a vision of the future. The essence of a story is then "played back" by a company of trained actors and musicians using spoken improvisation, movement and music. Sometimes a story becomes a myth, sometimes a realistic enactment. Some stories are tragic; others are funny or illuminating.

For organizations, Playback Theatre can be a powerful vehicle to celebrate success, to problem-solve, to grieve and share hope. In a youth organization, Playback Theatre could be used to help staff reconnect with the reasons they are involved in a youth service organization.

At a conference or planning day, Playback Theatre can provide a thoughtful and entertaining way for people to share and reflect upon their experiences and to celebrate the achievements of the group. If you are interested in hosting a Playback performance at your work site for a planning day or a conference, please contact:
